Reference • TR 62-26 TKKM o Ngā Mokopuna – Variable Speed Limit Scope Amendment
Location – where we propose to make the change![]()
Marine Parade, Falkirk Avenue, Forres Street, and Inglis Street from 8:20am-9:10am and 2:40pm-3:40pm School Days Only![]()
Ventnor Street: The amendment is to include variable speed 30km/hr 8:20am-
9:10am and 2:40pm-3:40pm School Days Only on Ventnor Street. The previous 50km/hr signs have now been removed.![]()
What is the change • The proposed change is to is remove the location the 50km/hr signs originally approved on 28th August 2025 (TR82-25) on Ventnor Street.![]()
• After further consultation, it was found that the school have an additional school gate on Ventnor Street which means this needs to be part of the variable speed limit zone, operating at 30 km/hr speed during school pick up and drop off hours. Therefore, this proposal seeks to update the zone to include Ventnor Street.![]()

Reference • TR61-26 Brussels Street, Miramar- Formalise Give Way control
Location – where we propose to make the change![]()
• Brussels Street, Miramar – Outside no. 1 to 76.![]()
What we’d like to do • Formalise existing give way controls along Brussels Street and install missing signs and road markings.![]()
Why we are proposing the change • At the intersections of Brussels Street with Tauhinu Road/Park Road and
Para Street historically those vehicles on Brussels Street must yield to vehicles travelling on the roads identified above.
• Upon inspection it has been found that these intersections, while
containing some elements that are required for a give way control, such as signs and road markings, are each missing at least one element equired to make it complaint with NZTA legislation and have not been formalised in our database.![]()
• Therefore, this traffic resolution is to formalise the de-facto give way controls along Brussels Street which are in place and to bring them up to national standard by installing the missing elements that have been identified.![]()
• To improve safety and consistency across the roading network we are proposing to bring the existing intersections up to standard regarding give way controls and have them agreed upon by council.

Work is underway to replace three sections of seawall that support part of Massey Road, the coastal transport route in Maupuia. To enable this work, the road connecting Shelly Bay to Scorching Bay will be closed to motorists for 5 months from June – October 2026. ![]()
What are we doing ![]()
We’re replacing a total of 220m of existing seawall in two separate locations along Massey Road: ![]()
One section (86m) in Mahanga Bay, opposite #270 Massey Road
Two sections (76m & 57m) in Kau Bay, approximately 200m south of Point Halswell Lighthouse
Preliminary construction began in March 2026 with works on all three seawalls expected to be complete by October 2026 through utilisation of the road closure. Traffic management is currently in place around the construction sites. ![]()
Road closure ![]()
From June – October 2026, Massey Road will be closed between Point Halswell Lighthouse and Herbies Beach (pullover area), north of Scorching Bay. ![]()
What you need to know: ![]()
No cars, motorcycles, or heavy vehicles can use the road during this period, with the exception of construction traffic and emergency services.
Pedestrians and cyclists can continue to use the road both ways with traffic control in place.
To access the eastern bays, traffic will be redirected through Miramar, over the eastern hills into Karaka Bay (via Awa Road).
Alternatively, cars can access these areas via Seatoun tunnel or from Breaker Bay.
Standard working hours will be 6am–6pm, Monday–Saturday for the duration of the road closure.
A full road closure allows for scheduled works at both sites to be completed over one 5-month period. This will: ![]()
bring forward the completion date for all three walls from Feb/March 2027 to October 2026,
reduce disruption to road users by an estimated 5 months (outside the summer season), and
reduce overall traffic management costs by an estimated 50%.
The road closure has the added benefit of allowing other suitable maintenance works to be carried out in the area safely, reducing future im
